About Janina Baker and Designs 4 Gardens
My own passion for gardening, garden design, plants and flowers began as a small child helping my parents in their garden. I knew from this early age, garden design would be my great love and the career and vocation path I would follow.
“All Gardening is Landscape Painting”
What we can offer
Professional garden design
I studied garden landscape design and horticulture at Capel Manor College in London.
Since then, I have been designing and maintaining gardens for over 16 years in and around Hertfordshire and London. I used to work as a Head Gardener at Mackerye End House in Wheathampstead, a beautiful Jacobean Manor House set within 9 Acres of gardens.
Throughout my time at Mackerye End, I had been entrusted with the mammoth task of redesigning all the individual garden spaces which was nothing but a joy and privilege on my part.
Unlike many garden designers, I do not have a specific design style. My motivation is to design a garden that best suits a client’s personality and lifestyle. I strive to relate a garden not only to its surrounding landscape, but also to the architecture of the property. My inspiration comes from my heart, in tune with Mother Nature’s wondrous variety of flora and spiritual essence. My work is therefore very unique and innovative. I enjoy the design work, which drives me to create exciting pallets of colour, texture and plant architecture, keeping in mind my clients taste and budget.
I listen and work closely with my clients and by applying my knowledge; it’s my pleasure to guide them through the whole process.
